A bride and groom on the shore of an Iceland glacier lagoon, with icebergs and mountains behind

Singapore · Est. 2004 · 300+ international awards

A moment in time that would otherwise be lost forever.

Twenty years behind the lens, three hundred awards, and still chasing the light.

William Chua is a Singapore-based photographer and a Fujifilm X-Photographer of more than ten years. Whether it is a father walking his daughter down the aisle, a family at home, or the migration on the Mara, he is looking for the same thing: the story behind the picture, not just another pretty photo.

“A father walking his daughter down the aisle, a speech that nobody quite got through.”

Some of the moments William remembers most are the ones that brought tears to his own eyes. He also photographs what you will be too busy to see: the faces of your friends and family as the day unfolds.

“Our parents may not be around twenty years from now.”

The smiles we missed at the time are the ones we will want back. These are not phone snapshots, but photographs made to last.

“You have to experience it to understand.”

William has returned to the Masai Mara for sixteen seasons, and no two sightings have ever been the same. Expect early starts, long waits and the occasional freezing night chasing the aurora.

About William

A quiet observer.

A painter first, then an analyst at Reuters, then a banker who walked away to follow the light. A trip to Tibet and a school in the mountains changed the way he sees. He rarely over-directs; he lets the story reveal itself, and waits for it.

“The toughest thing about photographing people is not your photography skills. It is your people skills.”
