As you guys might have read about it.
I conducted a photography workshop in Kenya recently.
Which explains my slow response to emails and not being contactable..
Cos even the telco reception can be pretty bad.
The workshop was made possible by http://www.adventure-quests.com/.
They came out with the idea of Take Only Pictures travel photography workshops
In addition to taking pictures in a scenic setting, we work into our travel photography workshops a session or two where your photography skills
will be put to good use by the way of contributing your pictures to the local communities for their wildlife or cultural conservation or
simply as a gift of portrait to be passed on for generations.
We did this with Bhutan last year, and Kenya last week.
(many more of such workshops to come, pending my schedule.
So for readers who are keen, do keep a lookout for our future workshops.
We are already working on the itinerary for the next trip in Bhutan, Tanzania and Kenya)
Back to my recent Kenya trip, we were really blessed with great sightings of the animals.
With the most spectacular show of the wildebeest crossing the Mara River.
We witnessed this great crossing in 2 days.. very lucky, as my driver would have said.
We helped to take portraits of students in both a privately funded primary school and
a government funded secondary school. This was done near the Maji Moto Campsite.
I brought 2 printers along for the trip to print out the photos for them.
As always, it was a great joy working with the kids, and always a humbling experience as well.
Of cos, all these were made possible by the great participation from the attendees of the workshop
Thanks to Dennis, Stanley, Kim Peng and Peng Wee for making this workshop a success too.
This is a photo of the group with our crew members..
And the next photo is a shot of all our equipment (not really complete.. cos some stuffs are not out of the bag) .. haha..
these are some of the photos taken in the trip..
Will try to post some more stuffs when I am done with the editing.
the most beautiful sunset I have seen in my life..
the kids.. and the last one is Helen.. the principal of the privately funded school
this is one of the few schools.. if not the only primary school where the kids do not wear uniform.. still pretty much the masai dressing when they attend classes.
a beautiful landscape shot along the way
it was a bonus to see the wildebeest crossing the sand river as well..
and of cos .. the most spectacular show on earth..
crossing the mara river..
u really have to be there to experience it.
a pair of fighting zebras
and a very happy lioness
definitely not for the fainted hearted.. the wildebeest was struggling to get on shore.. but this inexperienced croc was also struggling to pull it under water.. (experienced crocs would go for the neck, and not the butt.. we witnessed the experienced kill later) this tug of war went on for at least 1/2 hr.. and we were so tired from all the waiting.. but u can really hear how the wildebeest was screaming for help.
wow! you guys were lucky indeed. i just went to masai mara over the weekend. awesome, but pity, no more crossing. rainy in the evenings too so no beautiful sunset to capture.
