I was first approached by my sister to help document images of a school in Shanxi. Finalizing my schedule for a trip there was not an easy task, as I was travelling a lot this year.
But I was glad that I made the trip back in May 2012.
Bo Ai School is not just a school to help children be literate but it’s a place where both children and teachers are taught on what love is and the value of life through profound selfless love demonstrated by the founder, Christine Chan
On Sept 8th, the group organized a fundraising event exhibiting a collection of photographs themed “Journey of Love”. Over 300,000 RMB was raised in donations, sale of photographs, raffle tickets and pledges. Giving is truly a blessing – thanks to all of you who have supported Bo Ai in this mission!
I have since gone back to the school a 2nd time recently, spending much quality time with the students, teachers, and Christine. I attended some of the classes together with them.. had meals together with them, and did some photo presentations to them.
I was deeply moved and transformed by their simple and thankful way of life.
Here is a slideshow presentation of a series of photographs that I captured back in May 2012.
It documents the lives of the kids in Boai School.
And here are the photos posted previously..
